Options Chain
The Options Chain displays all available strikes for a single expiration date, with calls on the left and puts on the right. For each strike, it shows a configurable set of metrics updated in real time approximately every 10 seconds.
Accessing the Options Chain
Symbol Search
Click the symbol search box at the top left, select the Options tab, and search for any underlying ticker. You can type a full contract symbol like AAPL260320C00260000 or a shorthand like AAPL26 or AAPL 26 to surface matching contracts. Use the expiration
selector at the top to navigate between dates.
Bottom Panel
Click Options Data in the bottom toolbar, then select Options Chain. This opens a full-panel chain view tied to the symbol currently on your chart. The panel updates as you change the active chart symbol.
Expiration Selector
The expiration selector runs across the top of the chain. Each button shows the expiration date and days to expiration (DTE). Expirations are grouped by month. Click any date to load that expiration's strikes.
Columns to Display
You can select up to 7 columns to display for each strike. Available columns are:
Ask, Ask-Bid Spread, Bid, Delta, Delta × OI, Gamma, Gamma × OI, Implied Volatility, Last Price, OI Change, Open Interest (OI), Price Change%, Theta, Theta × OI, Vega, Vega × OI, Volume Today, Volume/OI
For definitions of each metric, see Options Terminology.
Progress Bar Metric
The progress bar metric controls the blue gauge bars built into each row of the chain. These bars scale proportionally — the strike with the highest value for the selected metric gets the longest bar, and all other strikes are sized relative to it. This lets you see the distribution of a metric across strikes at a glance without comparing raw numbers.
Available metrics: Ask Size, Ask-Bid Spread, Bid Size, Delta, Gamma, Implied Volatility, OI Change, Open Interest (OI), Theta, Vega, Volume Today
For definitions of each metric, see Options Terminology.
Navigation Bar Metric
The navigation bar is the narrow vertical chart on the right side of the chain. It displays a scaled bar for every strike in the current expiration using the metric you select. Calls appear in green, puts in red. The longest bar represents the highest value.
You can click and drag on the navigation bar to scroll the main table to that area of the chain, which is useful for quickly jumping to strikes with the most activity without manually scrolling.
Available metrics: Ask Size, Ask-Bid Spread, Bid Size, Delta, Gamma, Implied Volatility, OI Change, Open Interest (OI), Theta, Vega, Volume Today
For definitions of each metric, see Options Terminology.
Data Notes
- Options chain data requires an active OPRA subscription. See Billing and Refund Policy for pricing details.
- Data is real time but pulled, not streamed. The chain refreshes approximately every 10 seconds.
- OPRA data can only be accessed from one device at a time. Accessing options data from a second device simultaneously will cause errors on one of the sessions.
- Options on futures are not covered by OPRA and are not available, but options for CBOE Indices are available ($SPX).
- Implied Volatility and Greeks are calculated using the Black-Scholes model.
