Sidekick Deep Research

Sidekick is a language model which has access to a lot of TrendSpider tools and data. If you ask Sidekick a question, then it would assess what data or tools are necessary in order to answer. It would then fetch that data from TrendSpider, and give you the answer.

The amount of data a language model can comprehend without material loss of precision is finite. You can't put all the data in the world into a language model and expect it to give you precise answers. Analyzing multiple data types for multiple symbols within one Sidekick conversation is prone to that problem. That's where Sidekick Deep Research comes into play.

Sidekick Deep Research spawns multiple underlying Sidekick conversations, one per symbol. Each of these conversations thereby has all of the attention focused on one symbol. All these conversations happen in parallel, too. Which means that with Sidekick Deep Research, you can run research on multiple symbols both faster and with much better quality.

Examples of Requests

Only conversations which focus on multiple data types (or massive data sets) across multiple symbols will benefit from Sidekick Deep Research. Good examples would be as follows

  • Analyze yearly filings of stocks on my portfolio and provide summary of risks I am overly exposed to.
  • Check out these biotech stocks on my list, analyze their news, analyst estimates and yearly filings, and explain which of them have the most potential.
  • Check out my portfolio and let me know whether any of these tickers have bad news, or earnings coming, or recent analysts downgrades.
  • Find all the S&P 500 stocks which are moving up on volume today, then run deep research for all of them and find out whether there are clear common catalysts.
  • Examine this list of biotech smallcaps, read their yearly filings and earnings transcripts, and describe me the top-5 promising companies. Also put these tickers into a watch list for me.

Stucture of Sidekick Deep Research

Any Sidekick Deep Research session consists of one "main chat" and a number of sub-chats. A main chat is where you initiate Sidekick Deep Research from. One main chat can have multiple sub-chats, each of them focusing on a given ticker. One main chat can spawn multiple Deep Research sessions (generations), each of them focusing on one request.

Sub-chats are normal Sidekick chats; you can browse them and you can proceed these conversations by asking follow-up questions, or requesting additional data. However, doing so will have no impact on the main chat of a given Sidekick Deep Research session. That is, if you update or remove a sub-chat, the main chat will not have any conclusions re-assessed.

Limitations of Sidekick Deep Research

Sidekick Deep Research sub-chats are capable of accessing all the data Sidekick can normally access. However, there are a few limitations. Sub-chats can not do any of the following:

  1. Explain backtest results
  2. Run scans
  3. Create, edit or remove alerts
  4. Analyze screenshots and annotate charts
  5. Access watch lists

However, it's important to remember that a master chat of a Sidekick Deep Research session can do all of the above. So, in example, Sidekick can run a scan, and then run Deep Research on scan results.

Plans and Billing

Sidekick Deep Research is available on all the Sidekick plans, including the Free plan. Each session of Deep Research charges you one message for the request which initiates that research, plus one message per every sub-chat it spawns. Any time Sidekick is about to start a Deep Research session, it asks you to confirm that explicitly. This request also explains what the cost would be.

Remember that, as with any other Sidekick cases, you are going to be charged "messages" only for those sub-chats which result in a textual response from the model. A sub-chat will cost you 1 message disregarding of how much data that sub-chat would have to fetch.

In example, imagine that your request is Check out my portfolio and let me know whether any of these tickers have bad news, or earnings coming, or recent analysts downgrades.. Here's what's going to happen in terms of billing:

  1. You post the message with the request above. You are not charged anything against your balance of messages.
  2. Sidekick asks you to pick a watch list containing your portfolio stocks. No charges here either.
  3. Say, your portfolio contains 5 stocks. Sidekick requests you to confirm Deep Research. No charges here.
  4. Assuming you confirm, Sidekick spawns 5 sub-chats, one per ticker. No charges here.
  5. As sub-chats converge and result in textual responses (which you can see yourself), you're charged 1 message per sub-chat against your overall message balance.
  6. Once the main chat gathers responses from sub-chats and yields a final response to you, you're charged one more message, for the main chat per se.
