Ease of Movement Index

Description:

The Ease of Movement Index (EMV) is a technical analysis indicator measuring the relationship between an asset’s price change and trading volume. Developed by Richard W. Arms, Jr., the EMV highlights the strength of a trend by correlating price changes to volume levels.

Input Parameters:

Use Cases:

  • Bullish/Bearish Trends: Traders can use the EMV to identify bullish or bearish trends and potential entry and exit points. A rising EMV suggests a strong upward trend, while a falling EMV indicates a strong downward trend.
  • Combining with other indicators: To improve the accuracy of the analysis, traders can combine the EMV with other technical indicators such as the RSI, MACD, or moving averages.
